BREAKING: Philadelphia Eagles Agree to Massive $66 Million Extension with Star Player

The Philadelphia Eagles have been very active this offseason, whether it be signing players or getting new contracts with their players already on the team. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles have agreed to a three-year, $66 million extension with left tackle Jordan Mailata with $48 million guaranteed.

The $22 million per season average puts him fourth amongst the NFL’s highest-paid offensive tackles. Only Laremy Tunsil, Trent Williams and Andrew Thomas have a higher average annual salary on their current deals. Jordan Mailata was a mainstay for the Philadelphia Eagles as he started all 17 games last season and started 57 games since being drafted prior to the 2020 season.

This is a massive payday for a player who was selected in the seventh round (233rd overall). The 27-year-old left tackle has been one of the best players in the sport and now he is paid like one instead of playing on the final year of his contract.

According to Pro Football Focus,  Jorda Mailata had the third-highest grade for an offensive tackle last season (84.8). He ranked fifth in run block and sixth in pass block according to their grading system as well. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts now has his left tackle locked in for three more years.
