Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian isn’t sure what the game will look like just yet.
AUSTIN – The Texas Longhorns are set to take the field on Saturday for the annual Orange-White Spring game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
For Longhorns fans, it will be the first chance to see the new-look Texas roster, complete with new recruits and incoming transfers like Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Trey Moore, Amari Niblack, and Andrew Mukuba.
It will also be a chance to see an extensive run for heralded backup QB Arch Manning, who figures to get an extensive run with the offense, after Quinn Ewers gets in some early reps.
As for exactly what the game will look like, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are still working to put together the particulars. That said, fans should still be in for a good show.
Heading into the new season, the Longhorns are stacked at nearly every position – particularly at the receiver spot, where Bond, Golden, Silas Bolden, and freshman Ryan Wingo are set to replace the losses of Xavier Worthy, Jordan Whittington and Adonai Mitchell.
The same can also be said in the secondary, where the return of Jahdae Barron and the addition of Mukuba, which gives the Horns one of the best defensive back groups in the nation.
Either way, however, Sarkisian is just happy to be able to put together a full game, which has not always been the case.
“I think we have the bodies this year to play a game,” Sarkisian said. “I think every year you have to tinker with it. We’ve had years where we haven’t had enough linemen to make two teams and we had to play it offense versus defense… We’ll navigate all that tomorrow as a staff and try to put two competitive teams together.”
