unbelievable: Gary Rowett sends a devastating relegation message to Birmingham City players

Gary Rowett fires relegation message to Birmingham City players before do-or-die Norwich match

Birmingham City’s final Championship fixture against Norwich City has a lot riding on it

Gary Rowett closed his press conference after the draw with Huddersfield Town by challenging his players to give Birmingham City a chance of survival on the final day.

Blues wasted another opportunity at the John Smith’s Stadium and stand on the verge of relegation to League One. The final day clash with Norwich City at St Andrew’s is last chance saloon.

Rowett’s side have to beat Norwich and hope that one of Hull City, Sunderland or Leicester City do them a favour. The three aforementioned clubs face Blues’ relegation rivals Plymouth Argyle (21st), Sheffield Wednesday (20th) and Blackburn Rovers (19th) respectively.

St Andrew’s will be sold out and the question is whether Blues’ players will be able to handle the pressure of playing a must-win fixture. “We are going to see,” said Rowett.

“It’s another opportunity where you have a chance to go and perform in a tough game against Norwich. We had a tough game against Coventry and we performed really well. We often play with a little bit more energy and quality at home because of our fans.

“We know it’s going to be a full house and it’s going to be a brilliant atmosphere. It’s going to need big character and us to handle the situation.

“We are going to see whether we are able to do that. If we don’t, we know the outcome. If we do, we give ourselves a chance. That’s all we need to do and that’s all we’ve wanted to do in these seven games that we’ve been here for.

“Whilst we have been competitive, and whilst there have been defensive improvements, we need to show more quality to win games of football.”
