If we’ve learned anything about new Kentucky coach Mark Pope, it’s that he knows how to work quickly.

Less than a month on the job, Pope has already put together a full staff, a top-5 class out of the portal, which features a total of seven transfers.

Pope was at it again on Wednesday.

Just over 24 hours after receiving a release from his National Letter of Intent with South Carolina, 247Sports Composite 4-star and Harlan County’s Trent Noah committed to the Wildcats.

At 6-foot-6, 205 pounds, Noah jumped 24 spots to finish at No. 108 overall in the 2024 class in the final rankings update from 247Sports.

“Trent Noah is one of the elite shooters in this class,” Pope said in a release. “He is a tough, hard-nosed player with a special physicality. As an eastern Kentucky native, Trent will bring a grit, toughness and determination to the program that is representative of this state. We’re looking forward to Trent joining this talented group.”

As a senior this season, Noah averaged 29.9 points per game while hitting 102 of 237 shots from beyond the arc (43.0%) in leading the Black Bears to a 34-5 record and a state runner-up finish en route to being named 13th Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches and First Team All-State by both the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Over four games at the Boys KHSAA State Tournament at Rupp Arena, Noah scored 129 points and set a Sweet 16 record by hitting 19 3-pointers, besting Chris Lofton of Mason County’s mark of 17 in 2003. He also scored 48 points, the fourth-highest Sweet 16 single-game total, while making 7 of 10 three-pointers, in a quarterfinal win over Campbell County.

Noah finished his high school career at No. 5 all-time in the state of Kentucky with 3,707 points.

Here’s everything Noah had to say during his debut appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio Thursday.
