Solskjaer has been linked with an interest in the teenage midfield

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with an interest in the teenage midfield star this summer.Eduardo Camavinga has ‘two options’ this summer, including Manchester United, as his contract showdown with Rennes continues. According to reports, Old Trafford is one of two realistic destinations for the 18-year-old should he depart this summer.

Man United have been linked with Camavinga for most of the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyes midfield reinforcements.

With Paul Pogba’s future unresolved and a second Bosman exit next year looming large, fans view Camavinga as a potential replacement.

He could also fill the void in defensive midfield, with Nemanja Matic currently the only natural such player in Solskjaer’s squad.

However, those excited about Camavinga’s potential arrival shouldn’t be too optimistic of anything happening this month.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Camavinga has ‘two options’ this summer in a recent video on his YouTube channel.

United and PSG are both vying for his signature, but neither club has made a move to sign him as of yet.

Romano claims they have been in contact with Camavinga’s representatives, but those discussions currently aren’t ongoing.

Judging by his later comments, it seems like neither interested party are looking into moving for the teenage sensation this year.

Romano stated that while United like Camavinga, they’re content with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane as the only marquee additions in the current transfer window.

The Red Devils have ‘held meetings’ for Camavinga, but nothing is ‘imminent’ and their primary focus at this stage is to offload players.

PSG, meanwhile, are ‘strongly’ eyeing a move, but the Ligue 1 giants have prioritised Lionel Messi’s blockbuster arrival.

Romano adds that, like United, they are now also focusing on selling players as the transfer deadline draws closer.

He reports that Rennes want £38.1million (€45m) for Camavinga this summer, despite the risk of losing him for free in 11 months.

There is no bid on the table from any suitors, and it could realistically stay that way as the 2021/22 season gets underway.

He will undoubtedly be in the headlines again next summer, though, because he seemingly has no intention to extend his Rennes contract.

United could make an approach then, especially if they lose a top midfielder for free themselves in Pogba.
