Blues will make one final attempt to sign Kounde before the transfer window slams shut today

Chelsea have identified Kounde as an ideal candidate to strengthen their defence and have been hoping to sign him before the transfer window slams shut.

The European champions even had an agreement in place with Sevilla over the transfer of the France international.

However, Chelsea saw their attempts to sign Kounde stall after the La Liga club moved goalposts on their asking price for the defender.

There have been suggestions that the Blues will make one final attempt to sign Kounde before the transfer window slams shut today, but Sevilla are not prepared to change their stance.

Sevilla are not prepared to accept Chelsea’s initial offer for the Frenchman and seem to be firm in their stance.

The Spanish outfit are claimed to be demanding Kounde’s full €80m release clause before agreeing to the defender go and do not plan to change their stance.

Sevilla, who are adamant on their asking price, consider Kounde’s move to Chelsea to be off and have no need to sell him.
