City struggled to create chances as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Southampton

Manchester City lost points for the second time in five games as they were held to a goalless draw by Southampton at the Etihad Stadium.

After scoring six in their Champions League clash with RB Leipzig, Pep Guardiola’s side only had one shot on target for the entirety of their clash against the Saints.

City avoided complete disaster though as a decision to send Kyle Walker off and award Southampton a penalty were overturned following a VAR check.

A stuffed match that had few good City performances as City did played below level with a slight rotated squad. Man City came out with low energy and did not record a shot on target until the dying minutes of the match.

One where City was in control with possession and chances created.

The second half was equally as disappointing as City could not string together anything all day.

City had so many creative players out there yet failed to make it materialize.

The story of the night was City’s lack of chances and wasteful possession.

City now sit second, but with game ahead of most.

A poor day of football.
