Rio Ferdinand has claimed on his YouTube channel that Mohamed Salah does not get the credit that he deserves, insisting that the Liverpool star has it all.

Salah notched up another huge achievement at the weekend. The Egyptian’s goal in the 3-3 draw with Brentford on Saturday was his 100th in the Premier League for the Reds.

Only two Liverpool players reached that number in fewer games than Salah.

Meanwhile, only four players were faster to reach 100 goals for a single Premier League club. The only names ahead of him are Thierry Henry, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Alan Shearer.

Of course, it must not be forgotten that Salah is not even a traditional central striker – unlike those who brought up the century slightly quicker.

Ferdinand was asked about whether Salah gets the credit he deserves. And he went on to insist that no Liverpool attacker in the Premier League era ranks higher than the 29-year-old.

“No. We need to do a whole segment on Salah not getting the attention, the time, the talk, the focus which he deserves,” he told his YouTube channel when asked if Salah gets the appreciation he deserves.

“Go and watch Salah and what he does. He dominates and destroys top level players on a regular basis. He makes the game look easy, he makes football look easy. When a player’s doing that at the speed at which he plays, that tells you they’re high level. Numbers, trophies don’t lie. Salah has it all.”

As Ferdinand notes, Salah has secured his spot amongst the greats of the Premier League era.

Ferdinand did not hesitate to put the forward above Luis Suarez. And he clearly feels that he should be getting a lot more love from elsewhere.

Liverpool signing Salah was easily one of the best pieces of business a Premier League club has done in recent years.

They paid £34 million for him four years ago (via BBC Sport). It is scary to think what they could demand for him now.
