Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliot injury update and Manchester City injury blows

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliot is continuing his recovery from the ankle injury he suffered against Leeds last month.

The 18-year-old has been keeping fans updated with his progress on Instagram and in his latest post is pictured wearing an oxygen mask, with the caption “Small steps.”

To provide further insight into why Elliot could be wearing an oxygen mask, the ECHO spoke to physiotherapist Dr. Rajpal Brar.

He said: “The mask and tube are likely hooked up to a portable oxygen concentrator and pumping oxygen through to Elliott’s system. This is known as “oxygen therapy” and the theoretical rationale is that because oxygen is critical for healing then pushing more oxygen into the lungs and thus into the bloodstream and tissues may increase rates of healing.”

City missing two key players ahead of Reds clash

Pep Guardiola has confirmed the latest Manchester City team news ahead of their clash with title rivals Liverpool on Sunday.

The City boss revealed that his side have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their trip to Anfield, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ilkay Gundogan are their only absentees and should return after the international break.

However, Guardiola did raise some doubts as to where former Reds star Raheem Sterling fits into his best starting XI.

“Raheem can play good on the right, [when Manchester City reached] 100 points, incredible. On the left, [when Manchester City reached] 98 points. “Said the former Barcelona coach.

“As a striker his movement always creates something for himself in front of goal. Like Ferran [Torres] both are so good at making movements in behind in that [position].”
