‘Got everything’: Peter Crouch says there’s simply ‘no limit’ to how good £150k-a-week Chelsea player can be

Peter Crouch has said that there is “no limit” to how good one player in the Chelsea squad can be.

For pundit Crouch, he’s given huge praise to Loftus-Cheek after his performance on Tuesday night in the Champions League group stages.

The Blues recorded a 1-0 away win yesterday in Sweden against Malmo. Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal of the contest in the second half by getting on the end of Callum Hudson-Odoi’s exquisite cross.

Loftus-Cheek, 25, was back into the starting line-up in midweek after failing to start the previous four matches.

The £150,000-a-week ace delivered a midfield masterclass.

Crouch raved about the potential the English powerhouse still has and hopes he can play regular football at Stamford Bridge to live up to his potential.

“He’s got everything for a modern day midfield player. I think the only thing he’s been lacking is consistency. I don’t know whether that’s down to injuries or a lack of form,” Crouch told BT Sport.

“If he gets a run of games and continues to perform like this, there is no limit to what he can go to.”

Chelsea man Loftus-Cheek has to shake potential tag

Aged 25, Loftus-Cheek is not a youngster anymore. It’s difficult to forget sometimes because he’s come from the academy.

It does feel like last chance saloon for him this season to make it at Chelsea, but against Malmo he released the kind of player everyone knows exists within him.

He was dominant driving forward on the ball on several occasions and has real flair to his game, too.

Manager Thomas Tuchel handed him his ninth appearance of the season on Tuesday and must have been impressed.

It’s another great performance from Loftus-Cheek to build on.

Midfield is stacked

Chelsea’s midfield combination changed again last night without any kind of drop off in performance.

It’s remarkable to see the current options in the centre of the park.

Mateo Kovacic’s recent injury setback is a blow. However, the likes of Loftus-Cheek, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are still available to the manager.
