Liverpool should sign Ajax Amsterdam’s Antony if they are looking for a similar player to Leeds United’s Raphinha and want to avoid inflated Premier League prices.

The Ajax winger has been treating Champions League Group C like he would a game in the park with his mates, picking the ball up on the right-wing and driving forward at defenders.

The 21-year-old has five goals and four assists this season and all of the latter have come in Europe, with Sebastian Haller the main beneficiary of his superb wing play.

He got two assists last night and was simply terrifying for the Borussia Dortmund defenders to face, although the foul that Mats Hummels committed on him was not worthy of a red card in my opinion.

While Mohamed Salah has the right-wing under lock and key, he needs some cover so that Jurgen Klopp can afford to rest him at any moment and to ensure that, if he suffers an injury, the Reds don’t suffer a massive drop off in quality.

Of course, the only player that can better Salah’s offerings from the right win is Lionel Messi. So it’s practically impossible to replace him in Klopp’s side, but not having any natural right-wing cover is dangerous.

Antony is a player that could bring more flair to Liverpool, and his ability to humiliate defenders would add even more fear factor to the Reds setup and as he showed last night with two assists to receive the Man of the Match award, the Brazilian isn’t just a show pony.

He’s the real deal and if Transfermarkt’s £22.5million valuation of the young forward is accurate, he’d be an absolute bargain for whoever signs him while Raphinha will cost drastically more than that.
