Liverpool will have to pay some serious cash to sign Dusan Vlahovic, as Fiorentina have slapped an €80million (£68.4m) price tag on his head, according to reports.

The Serbian is an out and out centre-forward. In Serie A last season, he scored 21 goals and has 10 strikes already this season.

At this rate, the 21-year-old will score nearly 30 goals, at which point the competition for his signature will seriously hot up. While I doubt that Fiorentina can recoup €80million (£68.4m) with just a year and a half left on his contract, signing him will be costly.

He scored a hattrick in his last Serie A outing, a clash with Spezia which was dominated by his predatory instincts in the box and underlined just how devastating he can be.

According to Goal Italia, as relayed by Get Football News Italy, La Viola have stated that they are prepared to sell Vlahovic in January, with Juventus keen but Fiorentina want to sell him to an English club.

This is likely because they can earn more from a sale to a Premier League club due to their superior financial power but Liverpool need to decide if they’re seriously interested.

I have my doubts over whether or not he’s what Liverpool need as he can only play as a no.9 while recent signings like Diogo Jota can play upfront or even on the wing.

If Jurgen Klopp wants Vlahovic, they need to act fast as it seems as though his camp is looking to make a move as soon as January and with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah heading off to AFCON in January, it could be the perfect time to sign him.

La Nazione reported in October that the Reds want Vlahovic before Fabrizio Romano reported that he has turned down a new contract.

Alternatively, Liverpool need to identify an alternative because there is a huge drop off in quality from Salah and Mane to Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino.

The Reds could potentially concede the Premier League title in January if they are unable to navigate what has historically been a tricky month of the calendar for Klopp at Liverpool.
