Liverpool made a bid to sign Federico Chiesa in the summer, according to La Republica It was rejected and they have continued to track his progress, a report from Calciomercato now reveals.

Not a lot of people realize this but Chiesa is on loan at Juventus but the Serie A outfit has a right-to-buy clause in their agreement with Fiorentina. They hold all the cards in the EURO 2020 champion’s future.

In July, Italian newspaper La Repubblica claimed that the Reds made a bid of £86million to sign Chiesa which was rejected, but they seem to have retained their interest.

In a report detailing Liverpool’s interest in Dusan Vlahovic, it was claimed by Calciomercato that both the Serbian and Chiesa were watched by scouts from Anfield.

Chiesa scored 15 goals and assisted 11 last season, before he went to the EUROs with Italy and played a crucial role in guiding his nation to victory.

It’s clear to see why Jurgen Klopp would be interested in bringing him to Liverpool, even if it sounds unbelievable that FSG would sanction an £86million bid without a major sale being made.

The 24-year-old can score, he can assist, he can beat his man for pace or with a piece of skill and he’s more than willing to put in the hard yards to win the ball back high up the pitch.

Hopefully, this story develops as it would be great to see Chiesa at Anfield.
