Jack Grealish missed Man City training ahead of the Champions League clash against PSG tonight

Jack Grealish could face a race against time to recover from injury ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Aston Villa next week.

The Premier League champions travel to Villa Park next Wednesday but Grealish will have to prove his fitness to Pep Guardiola in City’s upcoming games against Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham.

The former Villa captain has been nursing a knock for the past few weeks and was forced to withdraw from the England squad before the thrashing of San Marino and was not fit to face Everton on Sunday, but there is a chance he will be able to make his comeback tonight.

Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that Grealish’s fitness had improved and indicated that a final decision will be taken on his condition on the morning of the game.

He said: “Jack is much better, (There are) some niggles for some players. (Wednesday) we have the last training session and we will decide then who will play.”

But the latest news concerning Grealish’s injury is that he was not involved as City trained ahead of their Champions League game with PSG this evening.

Guardiola’s side may have to make do without their £100m summer signing who has struggled to hit the ground running since becoming the most expensive British footballer of all time.
