Jurgen Klopp’s desires for Liverpool to seal a transfer for Paulo Dybala are very slim as the striker has told his agent to agree a new contract with Juventus, per TuttoMercatoWEB.

Reports by Calciomercato had claimed only on Monday that the Reds were looking into the Argentine’s situation. Dybala’s £222k-a-week contract at the Allianz Stadium is due to end next summer, and the chance to sign the 28-year-old for free was proving very appealing.

Dybala has struck home eight goals and provided four assists in 15 appearances across all competitions so far this term. The 31-cap international has scored five of his goals over 12 Serie A outings, with two in his last two outings, plus three in three Champions League ties.

Juventus and Dybala agreed terms in principle for a new contract some time ago, but have yet finalised any deal. The forward has now given his agent, Jorge Antun, the green light to get a contract sorted in recent hours with the intention of putting pen to paper this year.

Antun is ready to fly to Italy and speak with the Bianconeri hierarchy to iron out any final issues. He hopes they can reach a total agreement by Christmas on a deal running to 2026.

A four-year extension can take Dybala’s time in Turin to 11-years after joining the Old Lady from Palermo in 2015. Juventus paid the Rosanero €32m (£27.5m) after a 13-goal season.

DYBALA DEALS LIVERPOOL TRANSFER BLOW WITH JUVENTUS CONTRACT DECISION

Dybala, then, has seemingly dealt Liverpool a blow with his decision on a new contract as quickly as Klopp’s transfer interest in the Juventus forward emerged earlier this week.

The Argentine would undoubtedly have been an interesting option for the Reds, especially on a free transfer. He has revived his career under Massimiliano Allegri this term following a lesser role in Maurizio Sarri and Andre Pirlo’s plans during their tenures at the helm.

His five goals in 12 Serie A games is already one more than Dybala struck in 20 games under Pirlo. He also only registered more assists in 2019/20 (11) than he has so far this term (3) since 2017/18 (5).
