‘Arteta won’t sign him’: Pundit claims £250k-a-week ace won’t don Arsenal colours

Darren Bent has claimed that Mikel Arteta ‘won’t sign’ Aaron Ramsey for Arsenal, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Premier League striker thinks the 31-year-old ‘wouldn’t fit’ the road Arteta is going down with his young guns at Arsenal.

In 2019, Ramsey left Arsenal and moved to Italy to sign for Juventus on a free transfer.

And even though the Serie A giants paid nothing, in terms of a transfer fee, for the midfielder, it’s a move that just hasn’t worked out for either party.

There are suggestions that Ramsey could return to the Premier League during the January transfer window, with Newcastle keen on the £250k-a-week player.

Whilst Bent thinks he can see Ramsey returning this month, he explained why he won’t be donning Arsenal’s colours again.

On whether he would take Ramsey back at Arsenal: “Yes, it’s another body in there,” said Bent. “I can’t help but look at Aaron Ramsey, you look where Juventus are in the table.

“He almost has the Gareth Bale syndrome. I look at him play for Wales, everything else doesn’t matter. He seems at peace. He is happy. It means so much to him.

“When I have seen at Juventus, he doesn’t have that same spark than he does when he is playing for Wales.

“Maybe it would do him good to come back and play regularly. He’s a top player. If someone gets the best out of him, then I am all for it. I don’t think he will come back to Arsenal. The age gap. Arteta won’t sign him. He wouldn’t fit.”

It’s understandable why Ramsey moved away from Arsenal in the first place because they weren’t a club that were progressing and he felt he could progress his career elsewhere.

Since the Welshman’s departure, the Gunners have gone from being European regulars to not being in Europe at all now.

But he’s gone backwards also and the move to Turin just hasn’t worked out and he probably now thinks it’s a mistake.

A return to England’s top-flight would do him the world of good, but would a team in Europe or chasing Europe want to sign an ageing player on big wages?

Probably not! So, step forward Newcastle!
