‘He will find a club’: Klopp says ‘really good’ player will leave Liverpool soon

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has backed Loris Karius to kickstart his career elsewhere as he has no future at Anfield.

The German shot-stopper came to Liverpool in 2016 and a lot was expected of him. Klopp then believed that he was good enough to be the club’s number one, but things fell apart for him very quickly.

Karius started for Liverpool in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in 2018. He had a shocking game and gave away two goals to the Galacticos, which helped them get their hands on the most prestigious trophy in all of Europe.

Karius has since been out of favour at Liverpool and he is now the club’s fifth-choice goalkeeper. Klopp was quizzed about his future and he backed his compatriot to leave Liverpool and make a career elsewhere.

Jurgen Klopp: Loris Karius will find a new club

Quizzed if Karius can kickstart his career after everything that has happened, Klopp said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “Yeah, definitely. So, there are different things.

“One is Loris Karius the player, who is doing absolutely nothing wrong, who is in a really good shape, who is training very hard. He is committed, the goalie coaches are fully committed, that’s clear. But before the season we made a decision.

“Obviously, it was in the club’s interest as well that Loris finds a new club, stuff like this. That didn’t happen, so fine. We made a decision: he’ll be treated completely normally absolutely but we have the goalies.

“As long as we don’t have a massive situation here, our No.1 is Ali, our No.2 is Caoimh, No.3 is Adrian, No.4 is Marcelo and then there’s already four goalkeepers.

“Loris, I wish him only the best and he will find a club whenever – now or in the summer. And then from there, he will go on, I’m very sure.”

It really is a shame how Karius’ career has panned out since that terrible night in the Champions League final. The German just hasn’t looked the same since, even when he was on loan at Besiktas and Union Berlin.

Karius’ current contract expires at the end of this season. There is a chance he will leave this month and it is likely that Liverpool will make it really easy for him to find a new club to kickstart his career.

If he doesn’t leave this month, he will go at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see where he’ll end up. A return to Germany seems likely, but whether a Bundesliga club will take him after everything that has happened is a completely different story.
