Manchester City enter race to sign €60-70 million-rated Brazilian forward

Manchester City has entered the chase for Ajax winger Antony, with Pep Guardiola chasing an exciting right-sided player to refresh the options in the position.

According to Tuttosport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City has entered the race to sign Brazilian winger Antony. Pep Guardiola wants the club to bring a new right-sided attacker, as the future of Riyad Mahrez has come under significant doubt.

Antony has set the world alight at Ajax this season as he continues to flourish under the tutelage and system of Erik ten Hag. The Brazilian has had a hand in 12 goals and ten assists across all competitions for the Dutch side from 33 appearances.

Antony’s performances have put him on shortlists across the continent, with plenty of interest coming from the Premier League. Erik ten Hag reportedly wants to take him to Manchester United if he becomes their new manager. At the same time, there is interest from Juventus, Chelsea, and Arsenal in the winger, alongside the latest entrants Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola is thinking hard about bringing in a new right-winger after losing Ferran Torres in January, while the future of Riyad Mahrez could also play a part in the manager’s decision. The Algerian will enter his final contractual year, which may prompt the club to entertain offers for the attacker.

Mahrez continues to play at the highest level and currently remains in sensational form. However, a new long-term contract for the 31-year-old may not be on the cards as Manchester City could capitalize on the interest in the Algerian in the summer.

Guardiola would want a high-output player like Antony to replace the Algerian, and Manchester City could consider making an offer to Ajax as soon as the season ends. However, in light of significant interest from elsewhere, particularly Juventus, the Cityzens will have to make a quick decision.

Juventus are searching for a replacement for Paulo Dybala, who could depart in the summer. A move to the Premier League seems on the cards for the Argentine attacker, and Antony could be the player to fill in his shoes. The only problem for Bianconeri might come with finances, as Ajax may demand more than their capability.

Meanwhile, Antony may not be the only player Manchester City is keeping tabs on. Leeds United star Raphinha is also a target for the Premier League champions, with the Brazilian set to depart Elland Road in the summer.

As for the Ajax winger, Premier League sides, particularly Manchester City, are well-placed financially to make a deal happen, with figures around €60-70 million mooted for the Brazilian. It remains to be seen where the Brazilian attacker lands in the summer, although he will be regarded as a solid capture for any club that signs him.
