Liverpool has been heavily linked with Aurelien Tchouameni and is currently competing for his signature with Champions League rivals Real Madrid, according to a new update on the player.

What’s the most recent news?
According to a Foot Mercato journalist, Liverpool will “intensify” their pursuit of the Monaco midfielder following the Champions League final.

“There is still no full agreement between Real and Monaco for Tchouameni,” the reporter tweeted.

“For the time being, the people of Madrid remain in command. Liverpool will step up following the UCL. Paris has not said their last word and is prepared to go above and beyond what other clubs are offering.”

Fabrizio Romano’s revelation that Tchouameni reportedly preferred a move to Real Madrid appears to have dampened Liverpool’s chances, but supporters will be relieved that the club hasn’t given up on the potential signing yet.

Jurgen Klopp is clearly keen to bolster his midfield by infusing youth into his aging squad, with Gavi and Ibrahim Sangare both linked with moves to Anfield this summer, but it’s clear that the intention is to sign the Ligue 1 star if possible.

The £60m aces, dubbed a “monster” by France U21 boss Sylvain Ripoll, has been an absolute force for Monaco this season, scoring two goals, creating six big chances, and completing the most interceptions (101) of any player in the top five European leagues.

Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, and Jordan Henderson are all in their 30s, so planning for the next generation of the team to come through and add a fresh perspective to the team is clearly something Liverpool wants to achieve, which Tchouameni is capable of providing because he identifies as the exact type of midfielder Liverpool require.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid are willing to pay an estimated €80 million (£68 million), so Liverpool will need to compete with the La Liga giants this summer and get the deal done in order to secure his services in their midfield on Merseyside in the future.

If FSG does so, given his qualities, the entire Anfield will be overjoyed.
