‘Discussion’: Jurgen Klopp is expected to sign a £290,000-per-week player for Liverpool.

Darren Bent told talkSPORT that he believes Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba is a free agent leaving Manchester United this summer, and talkSPORT pundit Bent believes Liverpool manager Klopp has already spoken to the midfielder about a possible move to Anfield.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker also stated that he believes Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to sign Pogba.

Pogba has been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City, but recent speculation suggests that the 29-year-old France international midfielder may return to Juventus.

“You say Klopp and Pep wouldn’t touch him, I bet they’ve probably looked at the scenario and I bet they’ve had a conversation with him,” Bent said about Pogba on talkSPORT, as transcribed by RousingTheKop.

“You know what great managers are like; they always believe that even if that player has been a problem elsewhere, I can get the most out of him.”

“I can guarantee you that Pep and Klopp think they can get the best out of any player on the planet.”

In our view, it is unlikely that departing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Pogba is a very good player who is a World Cup winner, but his spell at Old Trafford has been mixed.

Liverpool and Manchester United are bitter rivals, and then there is also the small matter of the 29-year-old earning £290,000 (SalarySport) per week.

Would Pogba really join United’s bitter rivals, Liverpool?

Would Liverpool be willing to pay a 29-year-old almost £300,000 per week even if he came as a free agent?

We do not think so.
