The reason while Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy charged with further count issue

The 27-year-old is facing eight counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of attempted rape.

For the first time, Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been charged with another count of rape.

With the addition of a new accuser, the 27-year-old now faces eight counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of attempted rape involving seven young women.

Mendy pleaded not guilty to all but the most recent charge, which has yet to be presented to him and for which he has yet to enter a plea.

An order barred the media from publishing the latest charge until it was lifted by Recorder of Chester Judge Steven Everett during a hearing at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday.

All of the offenses are alleged to have occurred at his home address between October 2018 and August of last year.

On July 25, he will stand trial before a jury alongside his co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40, who has also pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Matturie, of Eccles, Salford, is accused of eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault against eight young women.

His alleged offenses occurred between July 2012 and August of last year.

Prior to the trial, none of the women involved must be identified, and reporting restrictions apply.

Mendy has been with Manchester City since 2017 when he joined for a reported £52 million from Monaco.

After being charged by police, he was suspended by the club.

Both defendants have been released on bail.
