‘I HEAR’: AGENT SAYS MANCHESTER CITY NOW ‘CLOSE’ TO SIGNING PREMIER LEAGUE STAR

England and Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is ‘near’ to joining Manchester City, according to agent Rob Segal, who spoke to Caught Offside.
The Premier League champions have been heavily linked to signing Phillips.
The 26-year-old Phillips has worked at Elland Road his entire career.
However, this summer might be the right time to make change after graduating from the school,
earning 233 senior appearances, and being mainstay for England.
According to reports from earlier this month, City was considering spending £60 million to beat
Liverpool to the England star.
After failing to sign French star Aurelien Tchouameni, the Reds were eager to sign Phillips.

As of right now, according to agent Segal, City are “near” to finalizing and announcing the acquisition of Leeds midfielder Phillips. He claims that Leeds must make a sale and adds that Phillips and Raphinha may be let go by the Whites.

It is evident that Leeds United must sell. Raphinha’s departure might be sufficient, but Kalvin Phillips is also a strong candidate to leave. I’ve heard he’s about to sign with Manchester City,” Segal told Caught Offside.

A severe setback for Leeds, who could have believed that Phillips would stay because Raphinha’s exit was more likely. After losing experienced Etihad star Fernandinho, City appears to be fixated on Phillips.

It might be the appropriate time for Phillips personally. He has outgrown Leeds, as England’s performance at Euro 2020 demonstrated. Despite an injury-plagued previous season in which Leeds finished 17th, he is now expected to join City.

Does he start? Danny Mills has questioned whether he would be a regular in Guardiola’s side. But it looks as if City are closing on their man ahead of the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
