Marco Asensio joining Liverpool this summer is reportedly on the cards.

According to Deportes Cope, the Reds have already tabled an offer to sign the Real Madrid winger.

The Spanish giants, who beat Liverpool in the Champions League final last month, have reportedly decided to sell the Spain international.

Asensio, whose release clause is around £605 million [€700 million] [AS], is out of contract at the Bernabeu next summer and the Blancos would prefer to sell him this summer rather than lose him for nothing 12 months down the line.

And according to Cuatro in Spain, Liverpool could pick up the player for around £34 million.

The report claims that’s Real’s maximum asking price and that the Spanish attacker himself wants to join a ‘top-level’ European club, which might indicate that Arsenal – who have no Champions League football – are out of the running.

Liverpool have signed three players this summer – Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay.

None of those are wide players but Jurgen Klopp might be in the market for one.

That’s because the Anfield outfit have just lost their second winger of the summer, after Takumi Minamino followed Sadio Mane through the exit door at Kirkby on Tuesday.

Whether Liverpool drop another £34 million on signing Asensio, though, remains to be seen.

He doesn’t seem like a Klopp-type of player in terms of skillset or indeed age, given that Asensio is already 26.

He’s hardly close to retiring but, by the same token, he’s still significantly older than the age range Klopp goes for these days.
