Liverpool is making a strong push to sign a £70-£80 million star, according to reports.

The future of Brazilian international Antony is uncertain, and he is once again on Liverpool’s radar.

UOL reported in May that the Merseysiders are interested in signing the Ajax winger during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old is primarily linked with Manchester United, where he impressed under new Old Trafford manager Erik ten Hag last season.

According to a recent report on Yahoo by renowned journalist Jorge Nicola, Liverpool has moved in and is still in talks with the Eredivisie side to sign the Selecao attacker.

Antony joined the Dutch giants from Sao Paulo in 2020, and according to Nicola, the South American club is entitled to 20% of the fee from the player’s future sale.

As a result, the Dutch champions intend to get a huge sum to sell their prized asset. According to The Telegraph, Ajax is seeking a fee of around £70-£80 million for the Samba star, whose contract will expire in 2019.

Antony won the Eredivisie with Ajax last season and scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions under Ten Hag?

The asking price has proven to be prohibitively expensive for Manchester United thus far, and this may also be the case for Liverpool.

They recently signed a new contract with first-choice right winger Mohamed Salah, and I believe the Reds will spend £70-£80 million to sign Antony, who primarily plays on the right flank.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager at Anfield, does, however, need to entice a versatile winger because he lacks depth in the wide offensive areas.
