‘As things currently stand,’ Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Tottenham’s interest in a Barcelona player.

Tottenham Hotspur has been linked with a summer move for Barcelona winger Memphis Depay.

The 28-year-old is no longer needed by the Spanish club and is expected to leave before the transfer window closes.

Fabrizio Romano has now responded to rumors linking the Dutch international with a move to Tottenham.

The transfer expert tweeted that the 28-year-old has had no contact with the Premier League club so far, despite the rumors circulating in the media.

Depay scored 13 goals across all competitions for the Spanish club last season and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Tottenham has already signed Richarlison from Everton earlier on in the summer and the Brazilian is expected to play a similar role to that of the Dutchman.

A move for the former Manchester United winger simply does not make sense for Tottenham right now and he is likely to struggle for regular game time at the London club.

Furthermore, the Dutch international had a nightmare spell with Manchester United in the past and a return to the Premier League might not be at the top of his priority list.

Juventus included Memphis Depay in the options for a new striker alongside Morata and Timo Werner. No direct talks with Barça, Depay is available on the market – but it’s up to the player. ⚪️🇳🇱 #transfers
