Thomas Tuchel weighs in on the Chelsea transfer window, amid bids for Wesley Fofana and Frenkie de Jong.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has delivered his verdict on Todd Boehly’s transfer business so far ahead of Everton, with moves for Wesley Fofana and Frenkie de Jong on the wishlist.

Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he is “super happy” with Chelsea’s current transfer situation ahead of Everton in the Premier League, despite ongoing talks with both Wesley Fofana and Frenkie de Jong.

The Blues have made five first-team signings ahead of the Premier League opener at Goodison Park on Saturday Night Football, with Marc Cucurella the most recent in a £63 million deal on Friday. With three more transfer deals on the table, Todd Boehly’s transfer budget could be exceeded in the first summer transfer window up to the £300m mark.

According to Brendan Rodgers, the Blues’ second £70 million bid for Leicester star Fofana has been turned down because no offers have yet met the ‘valuation.’ According to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, the club is willing to make the 21-year-old the most expensive defender in the world, with a maximum fee of £85 million this summer, which would surpass the fee paid by Manchester United for Harry Maguire.

At the same time as these negotiations for the Foxes’ star, Boehly is in talks with Barcelona to complete the ‘hijacking’ of the Red Devils’ deal for De Jong.

“Frenkie de Jong is also progressing,” says CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs. More information is expected next week. Barcelona claims they want to keep him, but that will change if Bernardo Silva makes an offer. As previously reported, De Jong prefers Chelsea to Manchester United if he is forced to leave.

“Speaking with Barcelona sources in New York, the feeling remains (even with new lever income) that De Jong must come off the wage bill, and the transfer fee will also help. Barca telling De Jong directly that they want him out will be crucial in hastening his departure.”

These two additions, along with a potential new attacker amid Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rumors, would excite not only Chelsea fans, but also manager Thomas Tuchel, who has stated that he is “super happy” with the new recruits who have already arrived.

“No, I’m not happy, I’m super happy,” he told Soccer AM ahead of Everton. “These two guys [Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly] are fantastic guys and fantastic football players and are exactly what we need.

“So, this is brilliant to have Kalidou here in the defense and Raheem in the offense is top signings.”
