Manchester City may go on a spending spree this winter.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is said to have been given a £100 million January transfer budget.

With the additions of Erling Haaland, Sergio Gomez, Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega, and Kalvin Phillips, City has been relatively frugal this summer. The departures of players such as Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, and Oleksandr Zinchenko have offset the costs of these players.

However, this season is unlike any other, with the World Cup in Qatar set to split the season in half beginning in November. Little-known players can rise to prominence with solid performances for their national team, as is always the case in a tournament of this magnitude.

Should this occur, according to The Sun, Guardiola will not be hamstrung by finances. Their report claims that the City hierarchy has given him significant funds in case a player takes his fancy in Qatar.

Elsewhere, Barcelona has reportedly accepted that they will not be signing Bernardo Silva this summer. The city had made it clear that the Portuguese star, who scored against Crystal Palace on Saturday, was not for sale.

This is believed to have not stopped the Camp Nou outfit from being interested in Bernardo. However, Diario AS, reports that Barca has abandoned their plans to sign the 28-year-old due to the price tag he would likely command.
