Klopp receives a welcome boost
The Reds have been given an early boost ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Napoli – after the Italian side confirmed that their leading marksman Victor Osimhen is currently struggling with a muscle injury.
Osimhen has established himself as one of the most deadly finishers in Europe and has already netted twice in five league matches this term.
But the Nigerian striker trained alone after picking up an injury in Napoli’s match against Lazio at the weekend and could miss out on the match against Liverpool.
Caicedo breaks silence on links
Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has cooled talk of a move to Liverpool in the wake of intense speculation linking him with a move to Anfield.
The 20-year-old Ecuador international has made a major impression since he joined the Seagulls back in February 2021 and was on target in Brighton’s thumping 5-2 win over Leicester City at the weekend.
But the midfielder was coy over his plans and insisted that he is “happy” at Brighton when he was asked about his future after the match.
Mohamed Salah’s slow start to the season continued at the weekend; the Egyptian forward was ineffective against Everton and failed to find the net for the fourth time in six games.
However, Klopp has insisted that he is not concerned by Salah’s lean spell in front of goal – and he scotched suggestions that the 30-year-old is suffering from playing in a slightly wider role in Liverpool’s new-look attack.
With Darwin Nunez, a traditional No 9, now acting as the Reds’ new focal point, Salah has struggled to make an impact in central positions – but Klopp has already hinted that he knows how to get Liverpool’s talisman firing again as his new frontline continues to work out their teething problems.
