Liverpool lead the race to sign “scary” £103m Henderson heir, Klopp will be thrilled

Liverpool has been aggressive in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham, and a new update on the club’s progress in completing the signing has emerged.

According to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, Liverpool is the frontrunner in the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

As per an article written for the publication, McGrath claims the Reds are expected to be the front runners to complete a deal for the standout star but will be subject to a number of huge clubs across Europe also desperate to sign Bellingham next summer.

Klopp will be thrilled

It is no secret that Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the young talent and has openly spoken out over the transfer window about the club’s failed attempts to sign the player this summer.

The German coach revealed in a press conference last month (via Liverpool Echo):

“He’s not on the market, so that’s the first problem with that player. Well, the only problem with that player!”

As a result, if the club does manage to convince Bellingham to make a move to Merseyside, Klopp will surely be thrilled especially with the mounting problems that have been presenting themselves in the center of the pitch this season.

Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all been suffering from injury issues over the season so far which has contributed to the team’s worst start to a Premier League campaign since the Liverpool manager joined the club back in 2015.

Rebuilding the midfield is becoming a pressing issue as James Milner, Thiago and the Liverpool captain Henderson are all well into their 30s, so signing a fresh new perspective on the team will surely be warmly welcomed.

In fact, the young Bundesliga sensation who is reportedly valued at £103m could be the Henderson heir that the club needs as the skipper comes to the latter stages of his career and is already showing signs that he will be more than capable of leading the midfield three in the years ahead.

The England international branded “scary” by Jack Grealish ranks in the top 5% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for dribbles completed, touches, and assists, as well as ranking in the top 11% for shot-creating actions, proving that he is an elite offensive player.

With that being said, it is clear that Bellingham possesses a wide skillset that Klopp could take advantage of and continue to develop, however, getting a deal over the line won’t be easy with so many clubs interested in the player and the powers at Anfield must prepare for that.
