This season, the former Manchester City defender was unable to predict these positive outcomes.

So far this season, Manchester City stars Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Erling Haaland have all proven Micah Richards wrong.

The Blues have had a strong start to the season, having not lost a match in the Premier League or the Champions League. Haaland has been Pep Guardiola’s main source of goals.

City’s Norwegian has 14 goals in ten appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, when asked, Foden and Grealish have demonstrated that they are both capable of playing in the same team.

Before the season began, Richards predicted that the Blues would have difficulty fitting the Englishmen into the starting XI, and he was skeptical of Haaland’s impact in his first season in the Premier League. In an interview with Sky Sports, the former Blues full-back stated: “Grealish prefers to play on the left, as does Foden.

“It’ll be difficult, and someone will have to leave at some point. In my opinion, I would not be selling [Gabriel] Jesus right now just for the sake of teamwork.

“I’m not saying Haaland’s going to come in and set the world alight but he’s a different option. He’s a big focal point and people can play off you, that’s the difference.”

The city would go on to sell Jesus in the summer and although he has started brightly at Arsenal, Haaland’s form as well as Julian Alvarez’s start seems to have justified Guardiola’s decision. The Blues will return to action on Sunday when they host Manchester United in the derby.
