Patrice Evra has laughed off the idea that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is just as quick as Sadio Mane.
Mane was a massive player for the Reds prior to his £35 million transfer to Bayern Munich this past summer.
For six years, the Senegal international was terrifying right-backs in the Premier League and Champions League due to his electric speed and trickery.
There’s no doubt that Liverpool has missed the 30-year-old’s jet-heeled tendencies on the left-hand side of attack.
According to FIFA, Salah and Mane were both given a 90 rating when it comes to pace.
And the former Manchester United left-back is stunned, claiming Mane would eat his former Liverpool teammate alive in this department.
He told his YouTube channel: “Mane is faster than Salah. He will beat him [in a race]. He will eat him alive.”
To be honest, both players are probably going to decline rapidly over the coming years.
Speed is a massive part of both of their games and once that begins to go, they will be very different footballers.
However, despite Evra’s comments, the Liverpool attacker remains lethal in a foot race.
After all, it’s only been a week since Salah galloped half the field en route to slotting past Ederson in a 1-0 victory over Manchester City last weekend.
You have to be a very speedy player to score such a goal and although his pace will desert him eventually, for now, he’s a bullet.
