Following a summer of uncertainty for the Portugal international, Bernardo Silva has provided a new response to new questions about his Manchester City future.

Bernardo Silva was linked to several claims of an impending Etihad exit during the recent summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old is said to be dissatisfied with his life in Manchester and is looking for a move back into Europe and closer to his home country of Portugal.

However, with financial constraints hampering the Camp Nou club, coupled with Manchester City’s €100 million valuation of the player, no such move came to fruition in time.

There was an understanding in some quarters however that French giant Paris Saint-Germain showed a late interest in the player.

However, by that time in the market, Manchester City was left with little to no time to source a worthy replacement for a player that has been integral to their success over the last five seasons.

The former AS Monaco playmaker himself hinted at this exact scenario being the case back in early September.

Bernardo Silva said at the time, “There was one offer from one team, no more than that, so it was quite easy for me and for the club because the only offer came quite late.

“So for the club to find a replacement, it wouldn’t be easy. There have been no offers from Spain,” he said.

Now, speaking after the weekend’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, Bernardo Silva emphasized his focus on the current season and achieving success alongside his Manchester City teammates.

There was a slight warning, however, that clarity on his Etihad future would not come until the end of the season.

“I have both eyes on winning the Premier League and trying to win the Champions League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup,” Silva said.

“We’ll see what happens at the end of the season,” he added.

“But for the time being, I’m going to give my all for the club and will do so for as long as I play here.”

It remains to be seen what will happen in the near future regarding Bernardo Silva’s future.

La Liga’s Barcelona is expected to retain their interest come to the start of the 2023 summer transfer window, however, there remains a willingness from Manchester City’s side to open fresh talks over a new contract for the player.
