According to reports, Manchester City could sign a £130 million deal with Liverpool in January.

Manchester City is reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund and England superstar Jude Bellingham in the January transfer window, with Liverpool also interested.

The reigning English champions could bring forward their plan to sign the teenage midfielder in January, according to Mundo Deportivo, with City keen to win the race for Bellingham amid growing interest from rival clubs in the 19-year-old wonderkid.

According to the report, FC Barcelona’s interest in Ilkay Gundogan could persuade City to sign Bellingham in the winter transfer window, with the youngster expected to star for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

With a reported valuation of £130m according to ESPN, City winning the race for Bellingham would send shockwaves around the footballing world given just how highly-rated that midfielder is. And for Liverpool, the move will be another killer blow for the Anfield side.

As reported by the Athletic, Bellingham is considered to be Liverpool’s top transfer target next summer, with the Reds eager to sign the former Birmingham City wonder-kid to bolster their midfield rankings. However, their rivals City could ruin all their plans.

Indeed, Bellingham’s next move could be one of the most decisive transfers in Europe since Erling Haaland’s this summer. And for City, once again winning the race for football’s most exciting talents will send a huge message to the Premier League and to their continental rivals.

A talent as good as Bellingham only comes around once every few years, much less from England of all places. Yet so good is the midfielder that City signing the teenager could well confirm the Manchester giants’ dominance in both England and Europe for many years to come.

After all, City already has the best young striker in the world in Haaland on their books, and adding the best young midfielder on the planet in Bellingham would be another nail in the coffin for competitive balance in the Premier League and potentially Europe.
