Conte wants a’superstar’ defender for Spurs and is willing to pay more than £60 million for him.

According to reports, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is keen on signing Inter Milan’s star defender, Alessandro Bastoni.

Bastoni’s name has been on Spurs fans’ lips for quite some time. The Italian was heavily linked with a summer move to Tottenham before Inter stepped in. Since then, it has been claimed that Bastoni is content in Milan and has no desire to relocate.

However, Antonio Conte is still trying to bring him to North London.

According to Inter Live, Conte has put Bastoni at the top of a list of Inter Milan players he fancies signing. It’s claimed that Conte would love to land Bastoni, even ahead of star midfielder, Nicolo Barella.

Of course, Barella is another wanted man in England. Both Tottenham and Chelsea have been linked with the Italian, who could command a fee of around £60m if Inter does sell.

Bastoni, though, seems to be the one Conte wants most. Defensive issues have been a problem for Spurs this season with Cristian Romero missing recent weeks through injury.

Dubbed a ‘superstar‘ by Fabrizio Romano, Bastoni would certainly tighten up a defense that needs help.

TBR’s View: Bastoni the game-changer

Make no mistake, Alessandro Bastoni is right at the top of the pile when it comes to top center-backs. The Inter star has been outstanding for some time now and it’s no wonder Conte wants him.

Of course, he’ll cost big money. But the good news is with no Italy in the World Cup, the door might be open for Spurs to make their move before January.

Bastoni might be happy in Milan. But Premier League money can often talk and the lure of a move to London with Conte at the Tottenham helm might well tempt Bastoni.
