Manchester City has 16 players competing in the FIFA World Cup.

Manchester City has 16 players representing their countries in this year’s FIFA World Cup 2022.
Manchester City has the most players competing in the World Cup of any Premier League club. Despite finishing second in the league, Pep Guardiola and his team have been a formidable domestic force this season.

He will be hopeful these 16 players continue their form for their countries…

John Stones, Kyle Walker, Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish (England)

John Stones is likely to play every match as he is England’s best player in his position. Kyle Walker will play most matches. Kalvin Phillips, despite having an impressive competition last time out, has not been given enough game time for City to justify starting every game. Phil Foden and Jack Grealish will be important to Southgate, with the former expected to start in the opener.

Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva (Portgual)

Make no mistake, these three players are the core of Portugal’s success. With Cancelo and Dias pretty much solidifying their places in the defense, Silva has what it takes to join Ronaldo and company in the attack.

Aymeric Laporte and Rodri (Spain)

Spain is a nation where you would expect to go far in every competition. However, they are guilty of underperforming. Laporte and Rodri will hope to turn this hoodoo around.

Manuel Akanji (Switzerland)

Switzerland has a tendency to make it out of the group stage. With Akanji at the back, they are in safe hands.

Ederson (Brazil)

In competition with none other than Liverpool’s Alisson, Ederson will be hoping to carry the potential winners from between the sticks.

Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium)

One of the more premium players in this competition, Kevin De Bruyne is hoping to inspire his nation to stardom. They certainly have the talent to go far.

Ilkay Gundogan (Germany)

Gundogan is one of the more senior players for Germany. He will certainly get game time.

Nathan Ake (Netherlands)

Ake is one of the more versatile defenders for the Dutch national team. I would expect him to be in a center-back partnership with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

Julian Alvarez (Argentina)

Filling in for Haaland this season, Alvarez has proved he is a goal threat. He won’t miss KDB’s creativity either, as he will be playing alongside the best in the world, Messi.
