Latest Leicester City news as Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker talk about defender Wout Faes after Belgium crashed out of the World Cup

Pundits Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have given their views on Leicester City defender Wout Faes after his Belgium team was knocked out of the World Cup.

Belgium fell at the first hurdle at the tournament in Qatar, finishing third in Group F behind surprise winners Morocco and second-place Croatia.

Roberto Martinez’s Belgium won one, lost one, and drew one of their three group games, with Leicester defender Wout Faes not getting a look-in despite his impressive Premier League form.

“They’ve got players ready to come through and push those players out,” Shearer said on BBC One after Belgium’s exit on Thursday. “Use Wout Faes as an example.

“From what I’ve seen of him in the Premier League, he’s been better than what they have defensively for Belgium. I don’t understand why he’s not played when experience hasn’t worked.”

City favorite Gary Lineker chipped in, adding: “He’s been excellent for Leicester, really good but he never got a look in (for Belgium).”
