Real Madrid Wants This Manchester United Playmaker: Will the Red Devils allow him to leave?

According to a recent Mirror report, Real Madrid has rekindled their interest in Bruno Fernandes after the Portuguese midfielder regained his form under Erik Ten Hag. Carlo Ancelotti wants to add depth to his midfield, and Fernandes could be an excellent addition based on his performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This Season’s Campaign for Fernandes at Manchester United

Fernandes has struggled to be productive at Old Trafford this season, owing to a noticeable decline in his influence and form over the last few months. During this season, the 28-year-old has appeared in 19 games for Manchester United, scoring twice and assisting once.

The Maia-born sensation has shown glimpses of recovering back to form after Ten Hag’s arrival as he is performing consistently as evidenced by his numbers averaging 2.0 tackles, 2.0 shots, 2.5 key passes, and 0.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he has to work on his ball distribution in the opponent’s half as he has only completed 77.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via who scored).

Can Real Madrid Boss Ancelotti Convince The Red Devils To Sanction His Exit?

Fernandes is exceptionally skillful with the ball and can make some dangerous runs toward the opposition’s penalty area. He has got the vision to find open teammates in the final third and can bang in a few important goals for his team when he is playing with confidence on a regular basis. Furthermore, he doesn’t mind putting his foot into a tackle and remains an extremely hard worker on the pitch when on defense.

Madrid can definitely use someone of Fernandes’ quality if he remains in form as he could certainly add more goals and bring more creativity to Carlo Ancelotti’s attack. At 28, he has currently in his prime and he can continue playing at a high level for a couple of years. The Portuguese midfielder is versatile enough to play as a right-sided wide player and as an attacking midfielder when required.

But it wouldn’t be easy for Los Blancos to acquire him in the upcoming transfer windows as the Portugal international is undoubtedly a key player for Ten Hag’s attacking department and the United Boss has put a lot of faith in him. His contract runs until the summer of 2026 and the Red Devils won’t sanction his exit unless they get an enticing offer that could change their minds.
