An update on Liverpool’s interest in signing midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been provided by sources at Benfica.

Despite coming off the bench to begin the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar, Fernandez has worked his way into the starting XI and put on a string of strong performances.

He will now compete in Sunday’s World Cup final, which will feature Argentina vs. France.

Given that Fernandez has been a standout for Benfica so far this season, the tournament has only served to enhance his growing reputation in the football world.

He only joined the team in the summer after leaving Argentine powerhouses River Plate, but it appears he may be on the verge of leaving.

That is because, as per Portuguese outlet Record, Liverpool has negotiated a ‘pre-agreement’ with the player over a move to Anfield.

Now, Benfica has revealed how close a move to the Reds is to happening.
