James Maddison updates Leicester City prior to their matchup with Newcastle United.

James Maddison provides an injury update for Leicester City ahead of Newcastle’s visit on Boxing Day in the most recent news from Leicester shire Life.

Prior to Leicester City’s Boxing Day match against Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium, James Maddison claims he is “nearly back at it.”

Maddison traveled to Qatar for the World Cup with England after being selected for Gareth Southgate’s 26-man roster. Later, he sustained a minor knee injury and missed the first two games.

The following three games saw him listed as a substitute, but he ultimately sat out as the Three Lions were eliminated by France in a 2-1 quarterfinal loss. Since then, Maddison has had some time to rest up before the Premier League season resumes on Boxing Day.

Brendan Rodgers clarifies Leicester City’s stance on the James Maddison transfer as Newcastle fans speculate

Maddison did not take part in City’s midweek Carabao Cup victory at MK Dons, and manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the attacking midfielder did not participate in Friday’s team practice.

The 26-year-old will be evaluated to see if he can play against the Magpies, according to Rodgers. During his press conference on Friday afternoon, the manager stated, “We’re going to give it every chance to see where he’s at. “His knee has been giving him some ongoing trouble. We will evaluate that.”

During an interview with Sky Sports on Friday night at the PDC World Championship darts at Alexandra Palace in London, Maddison gave an update. He stated: “Our coach, Brendan Rodgers, gave us some leisure time. I had a little bit of downtime, took a few days off, and was almost ready to resume playing after a major tournament because it can drain you both mentally and physically.”
