Newcastle is poised to launch an official enquiry into Arsenal’s target, who makes £120,000 per week.

Harrison Ashby might be the first player in the door for Newcastle United in January as they try to continue their campaign for the top four.

Before January and the summer, the Magpies reportedly have a nice list of potential targets. Eddie Howe has downplayed rumors of a massive spending binge in January, but he has said he would be considering what he can do.

The Guardian also claims that Ashby of West Ham is the most likely and realistic candidate to join the Mags.

Howe believes Ashby is the best candidate to fill in at full-back for the active Kieran Trippier. Since joining, the England star has been a revelation, but Howe is well aware of how much of a loss he’d be if he were to go.

Ashby, age 21, has long been considered a potential replacement. And the Guardian thinks he’s the most sensible acquisition Newcastle will make at this point in the transfer window.

Ashby is reportedly a target for Leeds United as well. Newcastle is reportedly the team that will sign the young Hammer, though. Although Ashby is highly regarded by the Hammers, he has only made a few Conference League appearances and may be open to moving to the northeast to advance his career.

Newcastle’s continued smart recruitment, in TBR’s opinion
Even if Newcastle’s acquisition of Harrison Ashby may not be the most spectacular move, it is still a positive development for their overall goal.

Another talented young player Eddie Howe may work with is Ashby. Ashby should be eager to collaborate with the Newcastle manager because we’ve already seen how he develops his players.

The London club would appear to be losing a valuable player to the Magpies if this trade is completed since the defender is praised by Hammers supporters as a “fearless” defender.
