Newcastle United is reportedly keen on signing the Juniors midfielder Alan Varela in a deal worth $18 million.

According to a report from D Sports Radio, Newcastle United is looking to sign 21-year-old Boca Juniors midfielder Alan Varela. And the Magpies have offered $18 million to secure his services in January.

The emerging Argentine midfielder has a contract with Boca Juniors until the summer of 2026. And it will be interesting to see if they are prepared to let him leave for $18 million in the January transfer window.

Newcastle United will undoubtedly need to bolster their midfield in the coming weeks. According to recent reports, the Magpies are associated with Moises Caicedo. And Varela has the potential to be a valuable long-term addition.

The 21-year-old Argentine midfielder has the potential to develop into a quality player, and Eddie Howe may be able to assist him in realizing that potential. At $18 million, the teenager could even prove to be a steal for Newcastle United.

Jonjo Shelvey is currently out with an injury, and the Magpies will need to find a suitable replacement before the January transfer window shuts. Newcastle are now in fourth place and will be hoping to qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season.

Eddie Howe will understand that he cannot risk undermining his team. As a result, the Magpies will have to find replacements for the injured players. Varela has the technical and physical skills to succeed in English football, but whether he can make an immediate impact at Newcastle remains to be seen.

The alleged $18 million bid seemed to be a fair price for a skilled but inexperienced player. It remains to be seen whether Boca Juniors will accept it. The prospect to play for Newcastle is sure to be appealing to the youngster. The Magpies are the richest club in the world, with a lofty goal.

Newcastle are seeking to assemble a strong group capable of competing for big honours in the coming seasons. Varela may be eager to be a part of such an interesting initiative. Furthermore, playing at a higher level in the Premier League will only help him develop and evolve as a player.

Eddie Howe has done well in developing young players during his management career, and he might assist the developing Argentine midfielder. Newcastle have demonstrated a willingness to spend in bright new players in addition to established stars. They are also interested in Angelo Gabriel. If they can pull it off, Varela may be another intriguing addition to the squad.
