As Portsmouth misses out on a trade to Manchester City, Blackpool could make an announcement today.

Rogers, 20, was on loan at Bournemouth in the Championship last season.

He appeared in 15 league games, scoring one during a trying period for the youngster.

Rogers did have a great season with Lincoln City in 2020/21, scoring six goals and assisting four more as the Imps advanced to the play-off final.

The 20-year-old winger has sparked interest from other Football League clubs, with Portsmouth also reportedly intrigued. However, the Seasiders looked to have won the race.

According to the Gazette, an announcement might come as soon as today, with the kid coming on loan until the end of the season.

Michael Appleton’s team is now battling for momentum. Blackpool is 22nd in the league after failing to win any of their last nine games. Their recent draw with Sunderland was slightly better but still fell short of an overall strong performance.

Appleton’s team has already recruited Andy Lyons to their ranks this month, adding depth to their defense, but they will require even more if they are to survive this season. The Tangerines are in desperate need of new blood, and the arrival of Rogers will be hoped to signal the start of a promising summer period.

If the acquisition is official today, Rogers might make his debut this weekend in Blackpool’s FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest.

It’s a difficult draw for Appleton, but things don’t get any easier when his team travels to Vicarage Road the following Saturday, where Rogers might receive his first taste of Championship football with his new club.
