Tottenham is set to begin talks today to sign the £52 million player Pochettino desires, and Paratici wants a two-year agreement.

Tottenham Hotspur appears to be stepping up their efforts to sign players during the January transfer window, with the Daily Mail reporting that they will hold negotiations with Sporting today about Pedro Porro and Marcus Edwards.

Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur are at a crossroads. They have lost both of their first two games after returning from the World Cup. And they are now five points adrift of the top four.

Fans will be pleading with those in charge to make signings this month. Tottenham appears to be expecting to make progress on two potential transfers today.

Tottenham will meet with Porro and Edwards today.
Spurs will conduct negotiations with Sporting on Wednesday, according to the Daily Mail. They are also considering discussing agreements with Porro and Edwards.

The Mail notes that the Portuguese side wants the release clauses triggered for both players. Porro will cost £40 million, while Edwards’ deal has a £52 million buy-out clause.

The situation is somewhat complicated by the fact that Tottenham has a 50 percent sell-on clause on Edwards. But that would obviously lower the price to Spurs quite considerably.

Both Porro and Edwards would be exciting additions, if they were players Conte was a fan of.

Porro has been ‘different class‘ for Sporting following his move from Manchester City. Meanwhile, Edwards stole the show during the first half of their Champions League clash with Spurs in Portugal earlier this season.

He has that piece of magic up his sleeve. Mauricio Pochettino famously compared the 23-year-old with Lionel Messi while he was on the books in North London.

He has rebuilt his career in Portugal. And if Conte sees something he likes in Edwards, he could be an outstanding signing.

It may not be too long before we learn whether Tottenham stands a chance of a double deal.
