The 10th richest individual in the world in 2022 partners with Manchester City, making a Liverpool takeover less plausible.

Jio, a telecommunications company owned by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, who was linked with the Liverpool takeover has now partnered with Man City, as per the official club website.

The Athletic had reported just a couple of weeks ago that Ambani was planning to venture into football.

With the renowned outlet also claiming just a month ago that Liverpool was ready for a full sale, the Kop faithful were over the moon that FSG (Fenway Sports Group) was finally set to depart.

Interestingly, Mukesh Ambani, who Forbes ranked as the 10th richest man in the world in 2022 was reportedly interested in taking over Jurgen Klopp’s men (via the Mirror).

Considering Ambani runs the most successful cricketing franchise in the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians as well as his incredible wealth of resources, Liverpool supporters were understandably in dreamland.

However, a fresh update now suggests that a buyout could be a pipe dream, as he has joined forces with Man City.

Jio, a telecommunications company owned by Indian business Mukesh Ambani has now reached a ‘regional partnership’ with Man City (as per the official club website), which could end his links with a potential Liverpool takeover.

Further details regarding the partnership between Ambani and City state that Jio will collaborate with the club by providing ‘engaging experiences’ to fans on platforms such as JioTV, MyJio, Jio STB, and JioEngage.

For those that are unaware, JioTV, which is perhaps one of the most successful ventures of the brand run by Liverpool-linked businessman Mukesh Ambani is the 2nd biggest OTT (over-the-top) video streaming platform in the world.

It is also stated that VIACOM18 and RISE, associate brands with Ambani-owned Jio will also ‘leverage’ football and sports offerings as a part of the partnership.

Ultimately, this news could well mean Mukesh Ambani has decided to end his reported ties with Liverpool, as he is now officially in business with Man City.
