Man United are’very close’ to acquiring a 13-goal/assist World Cup striker, according to reports. Manchester United News

According to Foot Mercato, Manchester United are very close to finalizing a loan deal for Burnley striker Wout Weghorst.

The Red Devils have been looking for a new striker in recent days, and it appears they are close to landing one.

Earlier today, it was reported that Manchester United was interested in Al-Vincent Nassr’s Aboubakar, who is currently on loan.

They have now chosen to sign Weghorst instead of him. The striker is expected to join them on a short-term contract.

The Dutchman will be recalled from his loan at Besiktas before joining United for the remainder of the season.

Weghorst might provide a new dimension to United’s attack.
After Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, the 30-year-old joined Besiktas on loan last summer.

He has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 18 games for the Turkish club. He also played for the Netherlands against Argentina in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Weghorst scored both goals in his country’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit. This includes a stunning equalizer in the last seconds of the second half.

His team was eventually eliminated on penalties, but Weghorst appears to have done enough to secure a trip to Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.

The striker may not be a regular starter at United, but his powerful physical and aerial presence in the box should add a different dimension to the assault off the bench.
