Antonio Conte is also looking for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham’s main wing-back target is Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro, but the Portuguese club is demanding the full €45 million (£39.5 million) release clause.

Spurs manager Antonio Conte has made buying a new right wing-back a priority this month, with neither Emerson Royal nor Matt Doherty impressing so far.

Porro, 23, is admired by the club and faced them twice in this season’s Champions League group stage, but Sporting will not entertain mid-season negotiations for the one-cap Spain international, forcing Spurs to satisfy his release clause in order to sign him in January.

Conte also wants to bring in an extra attacking player this month after going three games without a forward on the bench owing to injuries to Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Lucas Moura, while Tottenham is working on a succession plan for a goalkeeper and long-serving captain Hugo Lloris.
