Newcastle have a better chance than Tottenham of signing a ‘unreal’ £25 million player right now, according to a journalist.

According to journalist Dean Jones, Leandro Trossard is more likely to join Newcastle United than Tottenham Hotspur due to the Magpies’ interest in the Belgian.

Brossard’s future has recently become a prominent topic of discussion. His Brighton contract is slated to expire at the end of the season. They have the ability or have had the option, to extend that by another year. And, if it hasn’t already, you’d think that would have been taken up.

According to reports from 90min this week, Trossard is the regular starter most likely to depart Brighton in this window. Tottenham has also made a bid for the £25 million-rated 28-year-old.

Brossard is more likely to move to Newcastle than to Tottenham.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Trossard could be persuaded to join Spurs. However, it appears that a move to their Premier League opponents is more plausible.

Jones has suggested that both Newcastle and Chelsea are showing more interest, and may have a better chance of landing the Tottenham target.

“The Trossard link to Tottenham is interesting because his versatility would really suit them,” he told Give Me Sport.

“However, if he is really going to move, then I would say both Chelsea and Newcastle are also going to be in that conversation and might be more likely landing spots given their level of interest and power in this current market.”

It would be a coup for Newcastle to sign Trossard in one of the coming windows. He has been superb for Brighton since arriving in the Premier League. And he tops their goalscoring charts with seven goals this season.

But it is clearly a very exciting time to join Newcastle. Eddie Howe’s men are flying in the Premier League. And that is a sign of what is to come from the Magpies in the coming years.

Certainly, it is going to become a much more common sight to see Newcastle competing with the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea for signings.

Brossard has been ‘unreal‘ at times this season. And he could certainly make a big impact if he ends up on Tyneside.
