5 David de Gea I haven’t had much to do. His appalling distribution invites unnecessary pressure and penalizes United’s own attacking impotence.
Wan-Bissaka Aaron Wan-Bissaka 8 – commendable effort in deploying Phil Foden wide. Didn’t contribute much to the attack; Diogo Dalot’s overlapping runs may have gone unnoticed. However, against City, a steady defense is probably best. Even show off in City’s half.
Luke Shaw (9 points) – excellent game reading and positioning against Erling Haaland. You’re also quick on the draw. All day long, quality.
Tyrell Malacia is a surname. 6.5 – very smart first-half performance – knew when to be composed on the ball and when to be rash against Riyad Mahrez. During the second, I got a little caught up in the moment.
Casemiro 6.5 – as expected. Struggled to dominate midfield and misread De Bruyne’s run for City’s goal. Fernandes was helped by a fantastic deft curved through ball. In the 85th minute, the vital toe took it away from Haaland. Due to his world-class abilities, he received a lower score.
Fred 8.5 – excellent in keeping Kevin de Bruyne quiet in the first half; struggled to maintain the same focus and energy at the start of the second half, but quickly recovered.
Eriksen, Christian When City got the ball, he did a good job of surveying the midfield, but he struggled to thread balls through. In the second half, when United needed him to help them take control of the game, he was somewhat anonymous.
