‘Right now,’ agent responds to reports Man City is competing with Arsenal for £100 million star

Liverpool is reportedly eyeing up a potential swap deal involving Naby Keita and Inter Milan central midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

THE LOWDOWN: KEITA MISERY

Keita is a talented player who has suffered from constant injury problems ever since he moved to Anfield, as he has only been able to make eight senior appearances in total overall competitions so far this season, with 17 different injuries or illnesses affecting him during his time on Merseyside.

He is out of contract in the summer, so the Reds have the decision to make over whether to renew it or potentially let him go as a free agent.

THE LATEST: BROZOVIC INTEREST

As per Italian news outlet Calciomercatoweb, Jurgen Klopp is a long-term ‘admirer’ of Brozovic and could offer Keita a swap deal for his signature this month, rather than lose the Guinea star for free in the summer.

The Croatia international is valued at around €30-35m (£26.3m-30.7m), but adding Keita to any deal could bring those numbers down.

THE VERDICT: SMART MOVE?

Given Keita is out of contract in the summer, on top of his injury history, the Merseyside club needs to think about cutting their losses and letting him go in January.

Brozovic would be a welcome addition in exchange, given that the 30-year-old has a wealth of experience playing at the highest level for both club and country, winning the Serie A title with Inter in the 2020/21 season, among other notable accolades.

Hailed as a ‘top of the top’ midfielder and a ‘fantastic player’ by legendary manager Jose Mourinho, Brozovic should have a little problem settling into midfield at Liverpool, so this could be an astute deal if they can pull it off.
