After a late swoop, Leicester City’s transfer will be completed in the “next few hours.”

Latest Leicester City transfer news as Ayoze Perez looks set to join Villarreal on loan imminently

Leicester City forward Ayoze Perez is set to join Villarreal on loan in the “next few hours”, according to a report.

The 29-year-old appeared to be on the verge of joining Real Betis until the end of the season, but there has been a twist in the transfer. Betis’ La Liga rivals Villarreal are now set to complete the deal.

According to Spanish sports newspaper AS, Villarreal “negotiated throughout yesterday” with Leicester to sign Perez, with a loan deal now being just “one step away”, according to their information.

Pérez had agreed on the move to Betis, but is also understood to be comfortable with the last-minute change, which it’s said will be completed in the “next few hours”.

Leicester’s current transfer priority is to sign a right-sided winger, with Perez and Marc Albrighton the only current options – though Perez prefers to play centrally. It appears unlikely that Leicester would sanction Perez’s departure without first bringing in a new winger.

Leicester is interested in Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete, who is currently on loan at Lyon, as well as Leeds’ Jack Harrison. After a failed loan move in the summer, Atalanta’s Jeremie Boga remains a target.
